Mid-Level Laravel Developer (Remote)

We are seeking a talented and self-motivated Laravel Developer to join our growing engineering team on a full-time, remote basis. In this role, you will be responsible for building, optimizing, and maintaining robust backend systems, high-concurrency RESTful APIs, and scalable web applications.

As a remote developer, you will have a high degree of autonomy. You must possess excellent communication skills, a strong sense of ownership, and the ability to deliver clean, logic-hardened code in an agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Application Development: Write clean, well-designed, and maintainable PHP code leveraging the Laravel framework to build scalable web applications and core business logic.
• API Architecture: Design, develop, secure, and optimize high-concurrency RESTful or GraphQL APIs for web and mobile frontends.
• Database Management: Structure, optimize, and maintain complex relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), writing efficient Eloquent queries and raw SQL when necessary.
• System Integration: Integrate third-party services, payment gateways, and automated workflows (e.g., webhooks, message queues).
• Code Quality & Testing: Write comprehensive unit and integration tests (using PHPUnit or Pest) to ensure application stability and logic hardening.
• Performance Optimization: Identify bottlenecks, profile application performance, and implement caching strategies (Redis/Memcached).
• Collaboration & Code Review: Participate in structured code reviews, utilize Git for version control (branching, merging, PRs), and collaborate with frontend developers and product teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience: 3+ years of professional software engineering experience, with a proven track record of shipping production-ready applications using Laravel.
• Core PHP: Strong foundational knowledge of PHP 8.x+, Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), SOLID principles, and common design patterns.
• Database Skills: Deep understanding of database design, indexing, and query optimization in MySQL or PostgreSQL.
• Modern Tooling: Familiarity with modern frontend ecosystems (Vue.js, React, or Next.js) and build tools (Vite, Mix) is a strong plus.
• Testing: Hands-on experience with automated testing tools (PHPUnit, Pest).
• Version Control: Proficiency with Git and platform workflows (GitHub/GitLab/Bitbucket).
• Remote Efficiency: Strong time-management skills and comfort working asynchronously with tools like Slack, Jira/Asana, and Zoom.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Livewire, Alpine.js, and Tailwind CSS (TALL stack).
• Experience with Laravel ecosystem tools (Forge, Vapor, Horizon, Nova, or Pulse).
• Familiarity with Docker, AWS environments, or CI/CD deployment pipelines.
• Knowledge of message brokers or queue management (RabbitMQ, Redis queues).
